Ok, I know there isn't a Long John Silver's on the Outer Banks, but I do believe one would do well here. Sorry for the blasphemy! Anyway, what are some other national and regional chains that you feel would do well on the Outer Banks?
French Fry alley used to have an Arby's, a Taco Bell, a KFC and more recently a Burger King. I do miss the Arby's. I would love for a Bojangles or a Popeye's chicken place!
@KHbiker I ate Popeye's at an Air Force base in Germany. I still, shockingly, have not been inside a Bojangles, but my Dad loves it.
I think it was Long John Silver's that got hit with the 'heart attack on a hook' moniker?
I would kill for a chic-fil-a. Great service.
Have to add this story which I think is funny about Long John Silver's. A friend from college worked there while in high school as a cashier and her boss was always pushing them to up sell corn on the cobb while taking food orders. Well, in true high school fashion, she pretty much just flew through her duties not paying much attention to the customers when she took their orders and her boss was well aware of that. Her boss took notice of a man coming up to order from her one day and repeated to her the up sell corn push. She suggested the corn on the cobb to the man and when she finally really paid attention and looked at her customer to take his money, not a single tooth in his head. Boss standing there staring at her.... Smart boss and she learned a good lesson about customer service that day. And, how to read the room and think fast.
There are a lot of burger places here. But I hit up Freddy's in Chesapeake whenever going through the area.
@Craic'n Crabs YES!
@4Wheeler I'd take Sheetz over Wawa, so I could get a cheeseburger and fries.
@Greg I don't know. The last time I went to one it was a Long John Silver's/A&W in State College, PA, decades ago.
@FaithRanger I had Popeye's for the first time a couple of years ago and mistakenly asked for a sandwich and large order of fries. I didn't realize they sold picnic size boxes of them - and that's what I got. I thought Popeye's was really good. Bojangles biscuits are overrated. Maybe their fried chicken is good, but if you're in an area with a Biscuitville that's where you'll find the primo biscuits.
@4Wheeler they built a Freddy's near me a few years ago and they ripped off the Friendly's font. I was super stoked to get a Reese's Sundae and drove into the parking lot only to realize I had been duped lol. I didn't go inside, maybe I'll check them out next time I'm looking for a fast food burger.
Even if I were a resident or property owner that visited many times throughout the year I don't think I'd do LJS. I like to cook seafood myself too much. National or regional chains that would do well? Chick-Fil-A and Bojangles seem to do well no matter where they are.
