Driftwood

Two months ago on a March trip to HI, I was lucky enough to fish out a beautiful piece of driftwood in the water on ramp 49 in Frisco. At first, I thought it was a shark or something eyeing it along my walk. It had fins or something like a whale tail. I grabbed it and dragged it a loooong way to the SUV. Took it back to BB and put it under the house to dry. Shoe in picture for scale. Not sure if it's going on the wall here or in VA. This is a pic of it nicely dried out this week. Back story: Years ago we would drive to HI via route 58 through Danville, VA and through Clarksville. Saw a man gassing up his truck w/ trailer on one trip and it was full of driftwood from Lake Gaston down that way. He had several vendors at the OBX that had ordered driftwood to sell in their stores.

@BentMtn what a great find! I see why you thought it was a shark

@BentMtn Knarly old driftwood piece. Kinda looks like a headless mermaid in the pic with the shoe.

@SassyGirl- I really thought that at first from afar! @Greg- it does!! Now, I just need to find me a head!!!! 😂
