Inquiring for a friend that likes to tent camp and has never experienced it in the obx. What areas are best -costs and showers available ? Open to any areas. Thanks in advance::flag-us::
I have not tent camped on the OBX for many years. There are NPS-owned campgrounds, and commercial campgrounds. The NPS ones tend to be on the ocean-side, have minimal shade, and cold showers: Oregon Inlet, Cape Point (Buxton), Frisco, and Ocracoke. The only commercial one that I'm familiar with is Frisco Woods. It's on the sound side with shade and sound access. @gfury Thanks very much for all the info and many links. I will pass them along to them. Appreciate you taking the time to help out. ::dancing-banana::::dancing-banana::::dancing-banana::::flag-us::
@Obk9x2 My wife and I often stayed at Frisco Woods when we were dating. We got engaged there 😄 I'm sure it's changed since the '80s
@gfury 👍 Special place for you two ! I've been a visitor with late hubby from 2006 till 2024 and one time since with family and couple times solo. Every trip has always been alot of changes. Hubby and i and our 2 dals always stayed Cavalier , Travelodge, Dolphin Motel, Ramada over those yrs . I never paid attention haha to campgrounds cause until now nobody i knew ever asked me. Maybe Bent will chime in since she has a house in Frisco. Continued blessings to you and your wife. Be safe 🙏 ::flag-us::
