Insurance got the estimate for the new "custom" Teak Rub rail and totaled the boat. Second best day of my life...(; We had some good memories and made it through the Oregon inlet in the middle of the night in 15ft seas down from YorkTown Va...alas our journey is through and my ass is saved. Looking at pedal sea kayaks!
@Beach Farmer That's a beautiful boat. But did you really take that boat through OI at night???
@Beach Farmer Gods blessings with you BF! Lemons into lemonade for a new journey! ::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us:: 🙏 😇 ❤️
@obxtraveler Me and my Buddy Brian did indeed. I posted pics on the old forum. It was actually around 4am. Not my smartest move but we survived and made it into Shallow Bag bay where we ran aground 500 meters from the Marina. People from the old forum are getting bored of this old story by now...haha
https://youtu.be/jsaTElBljOE?is=c-s8AuJFPxLIY4hq I remember your time coming into Shallow Bag! So happy for you today.
@Obk9x2 Truth be told, I actually sat on the edge of my bed and prayed that they total the boat! lol Sailing is fun about 17% of the time. That's a high estimate. The rest of the time it's a Martial art where you are constantly getting punched in the face and bowing down to the forces of nature and finance. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VEjGM1s-tKs
@BentMtn lol, thanks Bent. You been there since the old days so you KNOW all the work and effort that went into that old boat! I posted a lot of that journey on the old forum. What a feeling of relief! haha Still, there's a little sadness...
I remember there was a low hanging lamp in the cabin that drew some blood. Your version of the story was pretty funny. 😆
@Beach Farmer You got what us country people in my neck of the woods say a good ole fashion soul mf ! I'd gladly trust you with my life on any of your adventures! 👌 Always in my 🙏 mf ::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::
@Greg OMG, I can't believe you remember that Damn pointy ass lamp! I'm gonna get a picture of that thing when I off load all my stuff. I think it took like 25 stabs to the head before a finally learned to avoid it. ... those numbers track with most of the activities I learned to avoid over the years.
@Obk9x2 That's very kind of you to say. (;
@Beach Farmer - Vote for Pedro!
@Beach Farmer your sense of humor about it made it memorable. If it were me, I woulda torn it off and float-tested it, lol.
