We have a modest garden (Four 4x8 raised beds), but it produces plenty for us. This year we did suger snap peas in the spring and zucchini, tomatoes (both sauce and slicer), cucumbers, peppers (hot), and the main crop, green beans (bush). I can the green beans (did over 20 quart jars last year) so that we have them through the winter. I just started picking green beans last weekend and will start canning them this week. I'm trying pole green beans this year on a trellis arch. We'll see how well that produces and when. I'm also trying miniature watermelons on a trellis arch. It's about half way up and producing a bunch of melons. Hoping they turn out OK.
@J4yDubs Fantastic John and 🙏 for you and the crops! Niece over in Wva has a huge garden again this yr with everything and her boyfriend has electric fence surrounding it. Their children -son is 5 and twin girls are 4 and this year they wanted to help plant. Me and sis went over last wk to visit and the garden looks great ! They always share with us haha old peeps. @J4yDubs Can you tell more about how growing the melons work?
@4Wheeler I'm using the "Mini Me" from Burpee. There are other brands as well, but I used to work at Burpee so I tend to go with them. https://www.burpee.com/watermelon-mini-me-hybrid-prod600343.html It produces small 2 pound melons and is strong enough to hold that weight. It's my first year trying them. I've never had much luck with melons (require to much room), but so far so good.

@J4yDubs haha when me and my 3 sisters were growin up we used to spit the seeds into our moms flower beds off the porch and believe it or not they took root and grew. We sometimes would just take the seeds and plant them in the garden our mom and dad had for yrs way past our adulthood. I did same thing after i got married for many yrs in smaller gardens i had- same thing with cantelopes. .::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::
@4Wheeler They are sold out for this year, but they should be back in stock next year. Burpee gets most of it's raw seeds around now and does packaging operations (very cool machines) til the end of the year. They should be back in stock around then.
@J4yDubs You have a beautiful garden! Love how much you’re growing! Ours gets bigger every year; sometimes, overwhelmingly so. We started selling tomatoes to a few local restaurants a couple years ago, and now we sell them to Hatteras Sol and Cafe Pamlico 1-2 times a week. I can’t even list all of the fruits, veggies, and herbs we grow. I had to create a spreadsheet to keep track of all of them. Here are a few pics and vids. We have two “screen houses,” a fenced garden, fruit trees in the ground, and potted plants/trees on our decks. We have tons of peppers now, but I haven’t taken pics yet.
