Handyman project

Saw these barstools on the Goodwill parking lot for cheap - wrangled them down to $40 for the set of 3. Wife told me to take them straight to the dump 😆. I'm handy, give me a chance! I have been watching prices online, but $200+ each? And they only come in pairs? Nope. I only need 3. Good bones on these but the fabric is old and dirty and they need better paint. Seats are hard to swivel too. Easy enough to fix & upgrade to weatherproof with a little elbow grease. They'll be under roof anyway.

Took out about a thousand staples holding the fabric and backing, lol. A pita, but a hooked utility knife blade and a pair of needle nose pliers got the job done. Sanded and vacuumed the seat plywood, especially the edges which were a bit rough, then sealed them with paint. Hit the frames with Spray Nine and rinsed off really well. Cleaned the swivels with brake cleaner. This is going to take a couple of days with drying/paint curing time...

@Greg I'm hearin an apology in your future lol ::flag-us::

@Greg Nice find! The chair backs and seat look to be hardwood construction.

@Obk9x2 hehe, I think you're right. Let's see how they turn out.

@Squid Pro Quo yep, they're hardwood.

@Greg I know it will be great ! 😂::flag-us:: That was just too funny

@Greg - Those are nice! Good eye and putting in hard work to make them beautiful makes them even better.

Snugged up all the fasteners, lightly scuffed and rinsed off again. Peeled off the felt slides from the bottom of the legs and removed the adhesive residue with Goof Off. Painted the frames with multiple light coats of Rustoleum 2X semi-gloss (great stuff if the directions are followed). Paint is dry to the touch, but it has to cure for 48 hours. Lubricated the swivels with dry silicone so they spin freely again. I will put on new screw-in slides (don't like the stick-ons, they don't stick very well) for the leg bottoms when they arrive on Friday.

@Greg Lookin great Greg and hehe will the wifey be makin cushions or is this a one person operation ? 😂::flag-us::

@Obk9x2 they just need new fabric stapled on. Should be a piece of cake, according to utube university. 😆

@Greg Sounds good Mr jack of all trades lol be interesting if your wife is the first to try one out and i mean that in a humorous way 😂 ::flag-us::

Finished. Covered the seats with new Sunbrella and put everything back together. Slides arriving today, ahead of schedule. Wife unit is very happy with the results and that they're ready for Saturday's cookout. Not bad if I do say so myself, less than $100 total for the 3 stools, fabric, paint and slides. I'm going to order myself some steamed crabs on Sunday with the savings. That's how guy math works 🤣.
