Sitting here in back in Ohio and watching a couple black Squirrels running around. This reminded me of a few conversations with some neighbors and friends when I lived in Manteo for a while. Some of them believed me and some still don't that we had black squirrels here in Ohio. Do any of you have black squirrels where you live?
I've never seen a black squirrel mind taking a picture.

We had them in southern Illinois when I was in college there. There was a town called the black squirrel capital. Let me search... I did a google search for Illinois black squirrel and found many links. Here is one. https://www.facebook.com/groups/114878026653/posts/10165329785171654/ Olney Illinois is the town. I drove there once to see the black squirrels and they were everywhere.
Very different looking.
They were all over Ballston in the Arlington VA area where my daughter moved to right out of college. My son got a kick out of them since he was a squirrel and everything else hunter. Don't have a pic, unfortunately, but I'm sure some NOVA people on this board have seen them.
Funny thing is right across the Ohio river, over in WV , within 10 miles from here they have a big university and a central park and none there. And within 20 miles from here, over in KY, their big central park has none also.
