The traffic in Kitty Hawk today is CRAZY bad. Everyone is leaving at the same time from Corolla to Nags Head. Hatteras traffic will be here any time now to add to it. Enjoy
@Tim-OBX gonna be a tough traffic day, that's for sure. I95 is probably fun today as well. Used to be able to leave early or late to avoid the midday traffic. But that was a long time ago. Good luck!
@Tim-OBX Never will understand all the tailgating and yes its everywhere quite aggravating. Unless you have a big tank haha you cant push the person in front of you and i value my suv too much. Patience alas a lost art::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::
@Greg Last time i was down there in off season in nh area i had this idea when i wake up (always an early riser ) and was by myself i'll head out and be ahead of most of them. Traffic will be light at 6am haha what a surprise cause it seemed rvs guys pullin boats and random ones like me had same idea geez traffic was heavy and numerous multi veh accidents to state line. Norm for many yrs was be cross bridge by 9am and you were good. Just my experience::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::::flag-us::
@Obk9x2 if you have a tow receiver, leave the ball hitch in it. If someone tailgates and runs into it, they won't be driving again until they can get their radiator replaced. 😉
@Greg I love that idea and late hubby tried for years to talk me into getting fabricator shop round here to make something for front in case we got shoved into a vehicle. Nephew happens to be a welder so haha seriously considering getting him to armor up my whole vehicle. lol even lil country rd by the creek to the house they ride my butt. Maybe brush guards will be the solution. Never understood people on vacay headin down -beach aint goin nowhere and heading out-where you goin but home and biggie while you on vacay why are you in a hurry? @Tim-OBX We left Nags Head at 6am on Sunday 7/5. We had light to moderate traffic all the way back to Maryland. I expected much worse. What time did you observe this?
Yesterday, Sunday, there was a mass exodus from Ocracoke. I don't need to watch the traffic, I just watch the golf cart rental lots go from empty to 100 or more carts in a matter of hours.
@gfury It gets bad in Kitty Hawk around 10am until noonish during the year on Saturday and now Fridays are about as bad. Hatteras traffic shows up around 11:30, I watch for those big trailers from the Hatteras campgrounds. Yesterday the traffic was backed up until 1:30pm. Many turn down The Woods Rd because the GPS suggested it as a short cut -- it's not.

A lot of traffic out there today. Not as bad as the holiday. Looks like their was a medical emergency up at the public access in Corolla. Fire, rescue and ambulance. Hope it turns out ok.
