Scooted up to Avon this morning and stopped as usual at the Canadian Hole to observe the water sports people. So windy and hot today. Lotsa vacationers enjoying the little beach there. Sweating profusely on the beach right now after walking a little over two miles. All I got was a rock.....Skunked!!! Well, listening to a bit of Billy Strings and that helps. Had to pull up the truck twice with the tide. I'm a pro now driving on the beach... Crazy and beautiful surf! TGIF for the employed!

@BentMtn Well geez if i had known that i woulda thrown a bag in my suv n threw a sleeping bag on your deck haha joking -went to the lake today and cant believe with the lake level way down the ninnies out there in boats drivin like bats outta hades and a bunch so close at the shoreline. This was @ Bridgewater marina and @ Bayrock marina absolutely no one should be on the water. Did get a 10 min downpour while there. 🐟🐟🐟

@Obk9x2 -Glad y'all got some rain. Good friend lives in the Blackwater section and they can barely jump down to their boat from the dock. It's terrible with the drought right now.

@BentMtn I have friends that have second homes down there that dont even chance their boats-others got no clue history of that lake but me and you do lol. Friends and me still entertain ourselves- been goin there since we were kids and not build build build like now but they have sweet spots they've had for yrs😂
@BentMtn - Funny story with the name Flick. Wick Moorman was the CEO of Norfolk Southern when I worked there in the accounting dept. I created a ton of derailment payables....go figure with the Ohio thing a few years and I would have had to issue them. Wick was coming to Roanoke for a look see one day. A fella next to me (hilarious and always made cool CDs for me) was on the look out for him when it was announced he was coming in. Wick walked past us and Steve said...Hey Flick! Stupid, but funny. Wick loved Roanoke and stepped down when they closed down 500 jobs there and sent them to Atlanta. I had a job in Atlanta but didn't go since I was older and thought heck no. Let the 25 year olds go. I trained the HR rep that transferred to Atlanta. The governor of VA was told one hour before we were told. Wick was so against it and I loved that he stood by his principles. A true man. Long story, and the reason so many people leave this beautiful area of VA. Once a railroad town....but no more. Memory lane....far cry from kite boarders...😂
@BentMtn Great story! Did u get one of them buyouts? Father in law was timekeeper guess what it was called haha what we called him. Anyway he had 30 plus yrs in and said he was gonna retire and it was when they were doin them buyouts so we told him put in for it and he said i already put in to retire. We all laughed and said nothing to lose so do it anyway. haha they approved buyout -go figure. ::flag-us::
@Obk9x2 - I did. NS was a big fish in little Roanoke. I applied for several jobs and one of them with Carilion and the girl told me..."Hope you don't think you're gonna get what you got with the railroad." Knew I was sunk then. It was pretty much a joke that Carilion (premier medical mogul in SW VA). I could have done her job with two hands tied behind my back and she knew it. Insecure laaaady! My little hometown is very click-ish. It makes me think of what Jessica has had to endure coming from Indiana to Buxton. My niece, Physical Therapist turned EPIC software girl in Richmond and my daughter (UVA mind you), have unfortunately have decided that they could never move back to Roanoke for those very reasons. Sad, but true. I'm onna rant........to heck with corporate is what I say!
