As some of you know I am a musician of all instruments and master of none. I spent the past year building my recording studio, repairing and upgrading my instruments and procuring equipment in my quest to write some seafaring Pirate songs...THAT has led me down a path of instruments and arrangements that are quite the departure from the Metal/ punk/ Prog Rock that I grew up playing. As a Child I played Piano and Violin for several years before I started listening to Beatles, Heatwave, Kansas and Boston albums. So here I am at 58 years old semi-retired working every other week as deck crew for the NC Ferry system. I'm gonna just pretend that qualifies me to write and sing Pirate songs.. I know it's a stretch but I'm feeling salty. So apparently I'll be needing to learn the Tin Whistle, Fiddle and Bodhran in addition to the instruments I already play! I once owned a Bodhran and played it till it broke. Tin Whistle not so much...SO, I spent all day practicing with my new Clark Sweetone yesterday. My Bodhran arrives today AND my "New to me" Ricard Bunnel Fiddle from Kennedy Violins that I bought off Ebay arrives on Friday!! This midlife crisis runs deep....could be an end of life crisis if the neighbors have enough of my Tin Whistle and fiddle practice and decide to take me out! ....anyways, it's a pirate's life for me... Songs of life on the OBX? ...songs of riding my Mini-bike ( I prefer to call it a Mini-Hog) across the Dunes to pick up mail at the Fire Station in a thunder storm??? ...along side the wild horses amidst the Tempest!!?? Think of the glory.... Stay tuned. * I added the old GTR fan powered Cheese organ to my repertoire. She's missing the High C on the keyboard but is otherwise ready to rock!!
I expect nothing but greatness from you, BF!
