I'm visiting friends renting in Chickahauk. I have never seen so much traffic backed up in the twenty years I've been coming here. Couldn't find any posts about it. But I decided to check the town of duck webcam on the webcam category. It had been showing absolutely zero traffic going north until a few minutes ago. There must have been a major accident south of town.
@Craic'n Crabs I looked at my EMS and fire dispatches for yesterday and I don't see any accidents on Duck rd. There were plenty of other emergencies, just not up Duck rd. I think much of the problem was the very heavy rain in certain areas. The ground around my house sucked it up like free money. My rain gauge says I got around 5-6 in in the past week.
Just saying there was no traffic going north thru Duck when I thought to check the webcam. At 830 we left when we saw there were no more cars backed up down Chickahauk. We got to 12 no problem but could see that it was backed up till at least the BP. It took us an hour to get back home. Usually it would have taken 7 minutes. We don't hide on changeover days. I've never seen it this bad even during the craziness of covid. At 6pm yesterday Waze was saying 2 hours to get home. Strangely Google maps was showing zero traffic and 7 minutes to get home all evening.
