Here is a 2021 photo taken along N.C. Highway 12 near the Bodie Island Lighthouse. The bobcat made its way down the power pole without any issues.
@FaithRanger - Gorgeous!!!!!
@FaithRanger Wow. Incredible. You were at the right place/right time for a photo like that. I've been saying for years they are here but nobody thinks so.
@Craic'n Crabs A Fish and Wildlife Service employee actually took the photo. I'm only sharing the photo after it was posted as an update by Cape Hatteras National Seashore a number of years ago.
@Craic'n Crabs Run Hill and the adjacent "Baum Tract" has them for sure. There's also a group of coyotes and right at dusk it's common to hear them calling from the hills there.
@FaithRanger that's amazing!!!!

This center is four miles south of where I live on the same road in Virginia. I drive past it every day on my way down the mountain. They have actually been a wildlife rehab center since 2002 and my daughter volunteered there for a girl scout badge a long time ago. I have taken rabbits to them and there is no charge for their caring; just stick some folded money into a jar. (I was always the kid that brought home stray pets and wildlife, so dear to my heart.) To tie it into the "fast food" thread on this board, an owner of 14 Bojangles eateries in the Roanoke area built a home up the road from the wildlife center years AFTER the wildlife center was established. They both use the same road to their properties via right of way agreements. Shortly after the Bojangles man built his massive million dollar plus home, the Wildlife Center obtained a permit through the County of Roanoke to create a large bird aviary. Mr. Seymour (Bojangles guy) filed suit to stop the aviary in 2017 citing that it would
@BentMtn Shameful. Dont know if he owns the one in Botetourt that stays very busy but i well remember when they first opened here they used to have bible scriptures on the counters. Very hypocritical imo if he owns this one. Sad people with deep pockets in this world being selfish. Ive always been a critter person and in fact me and my late husband bought a tshirt many yrs ago from Outer Barks owner Kevin that says "I ❤️ dogs more than i do humans" and still wear it to this day and have only had positive comments . Have referred many people to that wildlife center and just last yr when a neighbor across the way who bought that place couple yrs ago informed me during conversation she was feeding two orphan baby bobcats i told her she needed to turn them over to wildlife center . Pretty sure its illegal here for private citizens to foster them in va . And yes we have interloper citizens and hired "experts" in the county telling us there are no bobcats here
