Wanted to share this in the main forum to catch everyone. After watching the progress the past couple of years, The Hatterasman in Hatteras officially opened yesterday! We were driving past on our way to go fishing, and saw vehicles and an open sign, so we stopped in on our way back. The owner said they were keeping it a bit quiet now to try to ease into things. I wished them luck on that, given it’s Memorial Day weekend, and they’re right on the highway—the jig is up! We only ordered apps, because we weren’t very hungry. Buddy ordered the smoked fish dip, which was really good, and I ordered the Bangin’ Shrimp, which was also very good! They have a nice selection of cocktails and beer, as well. We both really loved the vibe there, as well as the outdoor seating! I hope they do very well. I can’t imagine they’ll have a hard time, given the great location, and good things to offer. They have a fb page now, and posted a pic of the Jeffrey’s Seafood truck in their lot. Definitely refreshing to see a local seafood truck outside a restaurant! Looking forward to trying out the other items on their menu.

At the Hattersman now and it is everything that Jessica said it was! Packed with people, too. Sitting outside, but went in to grab a couple of pics since this was an old haunt. Not changed much inside and love it that they used the old outside wooden sign and incorporated into the decor. Thanks, Jessica!! ETA: Having the Calabash shrimp basket and it's very good. SC vibes......
Just to add, I thought this surround sign was cute! Pick your beach. All kinds of nice details done.
@BentMtn Yay! Glad you went and enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing the indoor pics. I still haven’t been inside yet. They said they will be adding to the menu in time, as well. We drove past there today, and there was a pretty decent crowd there. I’m so happy for them, and hope they do well!
@jessicaboyd - Thank you for the info! I will visit very often. You were so right. We met a sweet lady from Fairfax who works for the fire dept up there and has a home in Avon....about my daughter's age. She had just gotten on the island at one a.m. and was seated beside us. Delightful lady and we shared a lot of pics. I do love meeting these people and always thank goodness that so many cool and sweet people are a part of HI. It really makes my day. I'm hoping you and I can meet some day soon.
@BentMtn I’d love to! I know what you mean. We struck up a conversation with a couple from Virginia sitting next to us at the bar, as well, and found out they were also huge Pink Floyd fans. We chatted for quite a while and Buddy showed him pics of all the fruits and vegetables we are growing. The place definitely has a positive vibe!
