I really like crab. But I've never been able to bring myself to eat soft shell. The fact that the crab is basically looking at you just doesn't work for me.

I have always been a bit freaked out by the idea but did try it at the Salt Box. I thought it was good, light tempura batter but I love their crab cake so that's my go to sandwich there all the time.
@Baileygirl if the crab still has eyes when you eat it, it wasn’t cleaned properly. Eyes, mouth, lungs and apron should be removed before cooking.

@tgp Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the soft crabs are half the size as they use to be?
@Kinnakeet Pete i can't say about size, but it seems like everybody has soft shell on the menu.
@Kinnakeet Pete They are priced by size. Larger crabs are more scarce, so they are in higher demand.
