I do have to say getting stuck behind these golf carts is annoying. Last summer I was in a line of cars from southern Duck to the BP, in southern shores. The guy never broke 25mph. https://www.outerbanksvoice.com/2026/05/11/speed-limit-changes-coming-to-n-c-12-friday/
I'd be more in favor of it going back to 45mph in the off season like it used to be.
I wasn't in favor of the speed change a few years ago, but I got use to it. The beach road is 35, and I use that a lot, so my car likes that speed.
Golf carts and the speed limit are two different subjects. I understand golf carts can be licensed. But if they can't do the speed limit they shouldn't be on the road. And if they can do 35, but choose not to, they're being a jerk. Why do you think people are on your bumper? I live at the west end of KH road. Last summer I drove behind a golf cart doing 25 all the way to the 7-11, I gave him a honk as he was turning in to the 7-11.
