Derby Day tomorrow

The first race of the Triple Crown is tomorrow. If you like horse racing, fix yourself a julep and something nice for supper. Weather is expected to stay dry so the track condition should be fast. With twenty four horses, there will be some pushing, shoving and blocking so the $3.1M winner's purse is really up for grabs. My bet is on Commandment, mostly because of his PP 6, but if Further Ado (PP 20) can get close to him by the first turn, there may be a photo finish.

Play your Dan Fogelberg, Greg, and have fun!

Mint Julep is big at the Master's tournament too right?

@BentMtn Lol, I am somewhat familiar with the subject of one of his songs.

@Beach Farmer I'm not a golfer, but juleps are a southern thing.

Do you have your big hat ready, Greg?

@Squid Pro Quo An Amish straw hat this year. They're all the rage.

@Greg Well, All I ever say my Southern Baptist, South Carolina Family drink was Moonshine off a shelf under the house where Grandmamma couldn't see cause if she DID there was gonna be a physical intervention. I suppose you gotta be from a Horse racing, Golf playing, minuet dancin, fancy Southern Family from Richmond or Charleston for all that. Hehe

Juleps are ready. I forgot how delicious they are. Horses are heading to the gate.

Looks yummy, Greg! My daughter just texted me a pic of derby day napkins she set out for old time's sake when she threw parties for her Mom group. She'll get around to it again one of these days when she can come up for air. I attached a pic and it didn't show up.

There was a little more excitement than normal for this years derby! Right at post time one horse bucked his jockey off and then was limping, very late scratch! Then the winner came from 10 (?) horses back to win! I really don't follow horse racing but the K derby is always fun!

@Greg Amazing finish. That horse went from next to last to winner - amazing!

@Tim-OBX Golden Tempo is amazingly fast. He overtook the rest of the pack on the outside. Unbelievable endurance to be able to run flat out the entire race.
