I declare a category dead

I have moved all posts/replies from the local issues and politics category to the main forum and ended that category. I emulated the OBC categories to an extent, but that was never successful there and it isn't here. Any politics on this forum must adhere to the purpose of the forum. Keep politics local please.

Please don't

Sounds official to me.

Cheers! Several people worked tirelessly to keep national politics off of the OBC forum but were fought repeatedly by a few of the main offenders. So far, so good for this new medium, and thank you for your efforts. If I wish to join that banter I can find it all day long on X! I do appreciate your new rules on the welcome page but especially the part about one screen name per user. Will continually found multiple screen names originating from the same IP Address. They were the trolls causing controversy most of the time. Their first amendment rights were being trampled, blah, blah, blah…

@Squid Pro Quo yep, with multiple screen names, one person could flag a post 5 times and kill it, even if the post had many upvotes.

I would never even open up that part of the OBC site and I have never looked at it here either. Best to avoid politics and religion conversations.

It had it's place and a time on the old forum. When the beach got shut down in 06 The main forum that was very friendly and chatty became a cage match because many of the pro access and many of the "shut it down crowd" were going back and forth. I will say if you thought it was bad on the OBC you should of seen some of the fishing pages. that area allowed it to be separate but I will say that it was the cause of almost all of the issues on the OBC

But where do people go to complain about e-bikes?

@Alexy I pretty much joined to push a mobile surf fisherman beach access petition that eventually garnered over 2,000 signatures, but it went nowhere.

@Alexy What do you mean about the 06 beach shut down? What shut down was in 2006? Nourishment was a big deal at that time. but no sand was moved until 2011. 2020 had the bridges shut down for a couple months and that was a big deal.
