I have walked past the watermelon family for the past two days on the beach in Frisco. They love it evidently and cannot seem to place the rinds into a bag. They just play toss with them. I couldn't get it all into the pic. It was behind me too. The birds wouldn't touch it. Maybe it will be washed away today. It really looks pretty bad.
When I rode the ATV searching for turtles I would OFTEN see that on the beach. I saw that sort of trash often. I always assumed it was from ships offshore dumping it.

Gonna try the beach and I'm sure I'll get sand blasted. Wind at the house is 28 WSW. Looking for that "watermelonness" fam again.
That's nasty but at least it's organic/biodegradable. Maybe a polite offer of a trash back? We do that when necessary here in Nags Head, you know "hey I figured you must not have a trash bag, so here's one you can have". But then you have to judge the crowd, are they gonna accept it or turn it into a big fight/scene?
@W&M OBX - Great idea on the bags. I usually have a few in the car. I know that all of us on this forum are "friends of the beach." Organic for sure, but unsightly. Just got back from a windy, windy walk and sitting in the car way back watching this crazy surf. The rind fam wasn't here today I'm guessing because of the windy weather. I did snap a pic of a gnawed piece down to the quick! Had a nice curl on it.....
Some people lose all common sense and decency on vacation.

Cantaloupe fam here. Think I'll play ring toss with my rinds on the beach today.... I prepare my fruit before taking it on the beach. BTW: Conner's has the sweetest ones right now!
No, that is not trash one family did right there. It is up and down an area of beach that is more than one family being pigs. It's off ships and it is often melons cut up like in the picture, but it might be a half mile long all spread out, not just one small location. I never saw trash like plastic or paper just organic stuff. I would patrol every Sunday and I would see melon pieces often.
@Tim-OBX - I saw them eating it. Or, rather, devouring it. But yeah, I'm sure a lot of stuff comes off of ships.
